| Vancouver Island is home to the Rufous Hummingbird during the early summer months. This little bird zooms to and fro from our hummingbird feeders in our yard, and we delight in its presence! I never cease to be amazed at how fast hummingbirds dart here and there, drinking our sugary nectar. This gives them the energy to catch insects, which are their main source of nourishment. We are always saddened when these charming visitors leave us in July.
